DUO Restaurant

This restaurant is new on the scene and it almost seems like all of Abuja was waiting for a new place to open because we heard they have queues to get in on the weekends, so you know we had to try it out. Just opposite 805 on Aminu Kano Crescent, and right in the heart of Wuse 2, is the cute, boutique-esque looking restaurant (honestly, you can’t miss it). Parking is a struggle, but what else is new in Abuja?🤷🏾‍♀️

You’re welcomed to the restaurant by an outdoor seating area which basically allows you to be in the hustle and bustle of the Abj streets. We however opted to sit inside the restaurant. It’s a fairly small restaurant with simple indistinguishable decor, like the cloud decal on the ceiling and the paintings of trees on the walls.

It was a no brainer for us and we had to try their Hummus which came with complimentary Lebanese bread . That was the round table appetiser and a couple of us enjoyed it, because just as expected, it is an acquired taste for most people. It was light, not grainy and quite delicious which set our experience on the right path.

2017-11-27-PHOTO-00013884One of our many orders was the Philadelphia sandwich with a side of french fries. The sandwich was a bit dry and lacked the signature Philadelphia flavour which was a downer for us. The fajita sandwich also didn’t quite live up to our expectations.

2017-11-27-PHOTO-00013887Our third sandwich order (because student budget) was the frankfurter sandwich. It was in all honesty nothing special and just short of bread and sausages.

The holy grail of the day was the penne arrabiata which was literally the best thing ever. The sauce was just right and not too “tomato-ey”, the spices were perfect and the portion was more than enough. We’ve come to realise that even though penne arrabiata can almost never look nice presentation-wise (*coughs* Saffron), it’s always a safe bet for a pasta-lover

One of our drink orders was the passionist, which is basically a passion fruit mocktail. On trying the drink, someone we presume to be the owner saw our faces when we tried the drink and offered us a new complimentary drink which was so thoughtful. This might have been because we had a camera and were visibly taking pictures or maybe humans have just become that nice #HaveFaithInHumanity2018.

Would we return? Well based on the food we had it would be a maybe but Duo has so much promise and potential that we’ll just have to go back and give it another shot.

    1. Your review was quite tasty and yummy. Love it and will definitely give it a go with my pals from Lagos this weekend.
Do they have an ” all you can eat buffet”.
Thanks again for the excellent review

      1. Thank you so much for the feedback! Means a lot to us. Unfortunately they do not have an all you can eat buffet. You don’t find much of those in Abuja except mainly with Nigerian dishes.
