Simply Green Juices

We all know how a cold refreshing drink can sometimes feel like heaven on a hot Abuja summer’s day (rain or not), so we were very excited when the Simply Green team reached out to us to review some of their juices as they were expanding their reach in Abuja. Simply Green sells organic raw cold-pressed juices made from locally farmed fruits and vegetables.

We got sent three of their juices namely: pick me up, anything goes and cleanse intense. Let’s give you a quick rundown of how those tasted before moving on.

This juice contains carrots, orange, apple, pineapple, lemon and ginger, and was by far the best of the bunch. It was the most refreshing ‘pick me up’ after a long gym session. The oranges added a deliciously citrusy kick to the juice and all in all we couldn’t put it down. We will definitely be ordering some more of this.

This one contains watermelon, pineapple, Thai basil and ginger. As the name goes, literally anything went in there. The watermelon and pineapple combo was nice; however, we were not very fond of the Thai basil as it left a slightly bitter after taste in the mouth. It was nonetheless refreshing but a let-down in comparison to pick me up. We would suggest maybe substituting the Thai basil for mint leaves, but alternatively, there is another juice called refresh that contains watermelon, honeydew, mint and cantaloupe which we believe will be a great alternative for this.

This is a very strong green juice and not for the faint hearted. It contains kale, pumpkin leaf, lettuce, cucumber, apple, pear and celery. It was far from sweet, and had a very leafy/organic taste to it which can be attributed to all the intense vegetables in it. It is said to be perfect for detoxifying the body and lowering cholesterol so we definitely don’t mind it for that extra bloated day, we’re just letting you to know to be prepared.

Apart from these, they have 3 more juices we are yet to try namely:

Funky beet (apple, beetroot, carrot, orange, celery); Get Naked (kale, spinach, sweet basil, apple, lemon, pineapple, cucumber) and Refresh (watermelon, honeydew, mint, cantaloupe).

Simply Green also offer 3 days, 5 days or 7 days cleanse programs which consist of a detox diet using only their juices. How this works is that they deliver 6 bottles of the fresh juice to the customer every morning for the duration of the program, as well as a cooler bag and a meal plan Let us know if you would like for us to try this out and document it for you because you know, we might as well be your guinea pigs LOL.

Okay so down to the nitty gritty, the juices cost N1000 and last for a number of days but must always be refrigerated to keep it fresh. You can purchase them at Eat to Live Lifestyle (Plot 522, GCL plaza, Suite 102, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2) and Saffron Café (No. 43 Gana Street, Maitama), or alternatively place an order for delivery by calling 08189009009.

Let us know if you try any of these and if you will be repurchasing it. Best of luck to luck to those trying to live a healthy lifestyle. Yup, it’s not easy, we understand.
